Good performance...for a while

I've used this router for about a year and have had decent performance. Unfortunately, during those times when I did have issues the non-existent tech support was adding insult to injury. Now the router stopped working, but doesn't give any error messages or indications anything is wrong save the fact that it doesn't. I've had mixed results with D-Link in the past, but this most recent interaction has confirmed my belief that D-Link produces products (at least wireless routers) that are a good choice only when it's the only one available.

Software spam

The software supplied carried a network managing package optional however I spent two hours to hook up my network to find it only worked after I installed the option. Naughty, Naughty.

Junk product--Worst Tech Support Ever!

Quit working within 24 hours after initial installation. On multiple tries to re-install the wizard kept stalling midway through process and reported hardware errors that were not true. When contacting the tech, he was condescending and would not listen to what I was saying, did not ask relevant questions, and concluded the problem was with my laptop. During this time I could hear him carrying on a personal conversation with someone else, while I was trying to explain the problem--having to repeat myself again and again. When I said it wasn't my computer, he yelled at me so I asked to speak with a supervisor. After a very long wait the supervisor answered but never asked any questions instead insisting it had to be the computer's fault and continued with the same condescending attitude. I asked him repeatedly to please take a moment and listen to what I had to say--that he did not have the right information about what was actually happening with my computer--but he continued to yell into the phone. I yelled at him to be quiet and he said he was going to enter my name into their company's data base of "uncooperative people". Finally I was able to communicate to him that I was not getting the response he thought I was getting, so he told me it was my fault for nor not answering his question correctly and proceeded to lecture me on why I wasn't a good person. I found both employees unhelpful, condescending, rude and possessing attitudes completely unsuited for customer service work. Not only will this piece of dung equipment get returned, I will never buy another D-Link product, and will endeavor to spread my opinion of their terrible products and insulting tech support.

A good router that have little flaws.

I got this router mainly because of its price. I upgraded from a DI-524 D-Link router. I didn't even use the CD that came with it. I just plugged the ethernet cables and power cable in, go to 192.168.0.1 and it worked. I checked for updates for this router from time to time. Sadly, sometimes there are glitches and the wireless would not show up on other devices, but a simple reboot usually does the trick. Overall, this router is great for its performance and price.

Failed in less than a week

I'll keep it simple. This router failed after just six days of use. D-Link support technicians failed to resolve the problem and refused to act on the warranty to have it replaced. Personally, I will never purchase a D-Link product again, if nothing else than because of the difficult, inept, and rude manner of support. Spend a little more money and get a better product. You get what you pay for.
